Too many people have been killed riding bicycles on our streets. On August 25, Sarah Langenkamp, a mother, U.S. diplomat, who loved biking, was killed in Bethesda. WHAT IS KIDICAL MASS?
Casual family bike rides — slow paced, on calm streets and/or trails, very easy, no drop.
Everyone is welcome: adults with kids on seats, in trailers, on long tails, in box bikes, on trail-a-bikes, and/or on tandems; older kids on their own bikes; even adults on bikes by themselves.
The rides will be slow (around 6 mph), short (3-4 miles) and easy (no hills above 5% grade if at all possible).
WHAT TO BRING
- Bike(s) that are ready to ride (Air in the tires; Brakes that stop and a Chain/Crank/Cassette that goes)
- Adults to accompany kids
- Younger kids in seats or trailers
- Experienced child riders (this is not a place to learn to ride)
- Listening ears
- Helmets for all
- Appropriate clothing (be ready for whatever may come)
- Sunscreen
- Patience
- Money & IDs
- Water

Kidical Mass Arlington rides are loosely organized bike rides for families. Rides ared planned to be safe and fun, but said safety and fun are the responsibility of individual riders and are not guaranteed by KMA or any of its sponsors. All kids should be accompanied by adults. All riders should wear helmets, whether or not they’re pedaling. KMA encourages all riders to follow the law and common sense, and takes no responsibility for riders or others who do not. Riders will be asked to sign a waiver. Ride safe, have fun.
